MARION FELLOWS JOINS BID FOR FAN-OWNERSHIP AT FIR PARK
Motherwell and Wishaw MP, Marion Fellows, has decided to throw her support behind the concept of a community-owned football club in the area by electing to become a member of the Well Society.
Last week, Marion joined the group tasked with securing fan-ownership at Fir Park, impressed in particular by the Society’s desire to have a positive impact on the local community and commitment to working closely with the club’s fantastic Community Trust.
The Well Society has edged towards community-ownership over recent years and the MP has been keen to pledge her ongoing support to the group as the journey continues towards a supporter-owned Motherwell Football Club.
Commenting, Mrs Fellows said:
“As MP for Motherwell and Wishaw, I recognise the positive impact a stable, family-friendly and community-oriented football club can have in our constituency.”
“Having met with Society Board members in recent weeks, I have been encouraged and excited by the potential of fan-ownership at Fir Park. The Well Society’s commitment to work on behalf of not only the Motherwell supporters but the community as a whole is something I am keen to support. I have also been very impressed by the work undertaken by the Motherwell Football Club Community Trust and I welcome the Society’s ambitions to work closely alongside the Trust in the future.”
“I am delighted to become the Well Society’s latest member and I would urge everyone with an interest in Motherwell Football Club to give consideration to joining.”
Well Society Board Member Tom Feely added:
“To have someone with Marion’s status within the local community join us really cements the fact that we are very much on the right lines in moving towards community ownership of our great club.”
