On Monday, Marion was pleased to receive a response from Robert Goodwill, the Minister of Immigration, to a written question about Syrian nationals and UK visitor visas:

The latest quarterly Home Office immigration statistics on entry clearance visas are published in ‘Immigration Statistics, April – June 2016’, available from the Home Office website at: https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/migration-statistics

With Syrian refugees being welcomed in Lanarkshire, Marion has a particular interest in concerns which affect Syrian nationals and is very keen to make sure she can represent her constituency as a whole, including the latest members of our communities.

Tuesday brought with it a familiarly busy day of meetings and briefings at Westminster.

On Wednesday, Marion was present at both Scottish Questions and Prime Minister’s Question, the former of which provided the MP with the chance to highlight the recent reopening of the Dalzell steel works in Motherwell:

During recess, I attended the reopening of the Dalzell works in Motherwell. Will the Minister speak to the Scottish Government about how steel jobs can be saved by putting together a package that really works?

Jesse Norman, Parliamentary Under-Secretary (Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy) replied:

I am grateful to the hon. Lady. The Government stand ready to work together with the Scottish Government on any area that can support and protect Scottish jobs and Scottish industry.

On Thursday, Marion headed back over the border to Glasgow to attend the 2016 Annual SNP Conference at the SECC.
