It is extremely disappointing, yet not surprising that no new powers will come to Scotland as a result of the Tory Brexit plan.
Scottish Secretary, David Mundell, has described the bill as a “power bonanza” for Scotland, but it is far from it. Time and time again the Tories continue to sell out Scotland – from short-changing Scotland to the tune of £3bn as a result of their grubby £1bn deal with the DUP; to refusing to guarantee that powers repatriated from the EU won’t be centralised.
The SNP manifesto called for more powers to be devolved to Scotland. Since last year we have begun to put those additional powers to good use – whether that be creating a new social security system which has dignity and respect at it’s heart, or refusing to give tax cuts to 10% of income earners.
